Create a "Lost Colleague" Message Board

If you are searching for someone, create a Lost Colleague Message Board containing as much information as you remember.

Suggested information about the person you are looking for:

Full name, maiden name, married name, previous name
Nickname or popular name, and other spellings
Approximate age or year of birth, and gender
Photograph and additional photographs
School, college or university
Course or program, department, class or batch
Graduation year and years attended
Hostel or residence
City or country where they lived; last known city and country
Profession or occupation, and employer if known
Family information, if voluntarily provided
Known social-media profile, website, or other public link

Add Your Memories and Clues

You don't need to know everything. Even a small clue may help someone recognize the person.

Examples of useful clues:

"His nickname was Babu."
"She studied with us in the 1978–1980 nursing batch."
"He lived in Hostel No. 3."
"We played together on the college football team."
"She moved to Dubai sometime around 1995."
"He worked for an airline after graduation."
"His family was from Kottayam."
"The last time I heard from him, he was living in Melbourne."
"I only remember that his first name was George and everyone called him Kunjumon."

Don't worry if some information is uncertain — mark it as an approximate clue.

Upload Photographs

A photograph can be one of the most powerful ways to identify someone. You can upload individual, class, graduation, group, sports-team, reunion, workplace, hostel or scanned photographs (where you have the right to use them).

If you upload a class or group photograph, you can optionally label people — for example, "Left to right: John — Unknown — Mary — Unknown — Thomas." Other alumni can then help identify the people you don't recognize.

The Community Can Help

Once your message board is published, other AlumniPulse members can contribute information. They can:

Recognize the person or suggest a possible match
Add another photograph or provide additional clues
Correct an incorrect detail
Identify the school, college or batch
Suggest a city or country where the person may now live
Share a public professional or social profile
Contact the person and ask them to respond

Every contribution stays visible as part of the search history, helping build a collective picture.

Possible Match

When someone believes they have found the person, they can submit a Possible Match. The system can compare available information such as name, nickname, photograph, school, college, course, batch, graduation year, city, country, profession, employer and known friends.

The result can be displayed as, for example, "Possible Match — 85%", with the reasons it may be a match: same school, same graduation year, same nickname, similar photograph, same city, or a common classmate. The person who created the search can then review the information.

"Do You Know This Person?"

AlumniPulse can also display selected lost-colleague requests to relevant alumni. For example:

Do you know John Mathew? School: St. Mary's High School. Batch: 1978. Last known location: Mumbai. Nickname: Johnny. Known profession: Engineer.

Alumni can respond with "I Know This Person," "I Have a Clue," or "I Don't Recognize Them" — turning our worldwide community into a powerful, human-powered reconnection network.

Search by More Than a Name

Sometimes you don't remember the person's full name. You can search using combinations of clues:

School + Year
College + Course
Nickname + City
Batch + Profession
Photograph + Institution
First Name + School
Employer + Approximate Year
Country + Institution

This is especially helpful when searching for friends you knew decades ago.

Memories Can Become Clues

You can write a short memory when you create a search. For example:

"We were classmates at St. Joseph's College from 1979 to 1981. He was always called Babu. He played goalkeeper for our college football team. After graduation, I heard that he went to Saudi Arabia. I have not heard from him since the early 1980s."

A memory like this may immediately trigger recognition from another alumnus.

Help Someone Find You

If someone has posted a search for you, you can claim the profile. When you see "Is This You?" and recognize yourself, choose "Yes, This Is Me."

You can then verify your identity, claim your AlumniPulse profile, correct your information, add current contact details, choose what information is publicly visible, contact the person who was searching for you, and close the search request.
